Less Is More Act, Parole Reform Bill, Up for Senate Committee Vote on Monday

New York, NY – On MONDAY, FEBRUARY 8 at 10:30 AM at https://bit.ly/2YPGlrC, the New York State Senate Committee on Crime, Crime Victims, and Correction will, following months of advocacy by parole reform groups, vote on the Less Is More Act, S.1144. Monday’s meeting will mark the first time the Less Is More bill is up for consideration for a committee vote in either house of the New York State Legislature.

The Less is More Act, which limits the incarceration of people in New York on technical parole violations and makes other critical changes to the parole process, is supported by nearly 230 community advocacy groups, 7 District Attorneys from across the state from the counties of Albany, Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Tompkins, Ulster, & Westchester, and law enforcement leaders from across New York including the Albany and Erie County Sheriffs.
